Comunnity Websites
Although our initial goal was to open e-Commerce websites to make money, but we believe in giving something back. At our own expense we switched server host to handle the increased bandwidth and capacity. We purchased software and started with the Campers Directory, but soon after we were getting warnings and getting turned off because of CPU usage went over 4.5%. This prompted us to change hosting providers almost immediately. We signed up with BlueHost and got a two year deal. Our only regret is we did not sign up for the three year deal. We purchased software for our Campers Directory and Article website from PHP Link Directory. The cost was very reasonable, only $30 each and it works great. The article website has Camping & Hunting stories, Tips and how to's
For our community websites we have what came first our Campers Directory. Originally started as an SEO angle, it took on its own life and is all but grown up. Our second community website was our Camping & hunting article website. This website is purely for enjoyment in sharing stories. Very young are three forum websites, the Camping Forum, Hunting Forum and Radio Forum. These were originally started out as a compliance for one of our credit card processors, but is going much the same way as the article website.
Since about 2007 we have had Niland's Blog For Website Entrepreneurs. It is a continuing story about my efforts at e-commerce. About 2010 I started a Linux vs Windows blog, but when we switched web hosts we lost all our articles. I have been trying to redo as much as I can, but it has been too long gone to remember. Maybe the best idea is to change the title and format of the blog to something more helpful like how to's and tips for Linux.
We have much work yet to do on our community websites as far as content goes as these sites are very young. We welcome contributions from other authors. If there is anyone who would like to volunteer to moderate the forums this would be great.
The very first website is our Entrepreneurial e-commerce website. More of a beginners guide at this point. It can be found at http://e-commerce.nilandsplace.com.
