We have designed our own custom Joomla template for our home page website. We started with a Joomal version 1.6 template from siteground called purple sky. We could have picked another template but the basic layout was what we wanted. A clean appearance with minimal color and graphics to distract. I create my own graphics using GIMP for Linux, Adobe Photoshop and Micrografix Picture Publisher for Windows. The website is done on Ubuntu Linux as it is more reliable than windows.
The commercial websites are done with Magento 1.4.2.0 with some of my own custom features. We use two different templates from Templates-Master and some published extensions.
The e-commerce website was originally done in Fronpage, but is now done with KompoZer for Linux or as raw HTML as we have abandoned publishing in Windows.
